Day 3
Peacekeeping has become more challenging than ever! Some of the challenges include armed groups with powerful modern weapons and misinformation fueling violence against UN personnel.
Yet, peacekeepers are constantly searching for new ways to make peacekeeping more progressive, innovative, and effective️ 🕊️.
Major Gabriel Bernardes, Reporting Officer at the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan, was one of the hundreds of UN staff evacuated from the Sudanese conflict.
Despite the challenges, she remains committed to implementing the Juba Peace Agreement from a distance.
Day 4
4.1
#UNpeacekeepers have worked to save and change lives in the world’s most fragile political and security situations.
To honor the contribution of more than two million peacekeepers to date, the RSCE hosted the “Peacekeeping Over the Years” exhibition with more than 50 images and videos. It will be on display at the RSCE’s Regional Training and Conference Centre until Friday 26th May.
Earlier, uniformed personnel and RSCE staff laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence for those who died for the cause of peace under the UN flag.

Day 5
“It is unfortunate that war continues to displace civilians and put their lives in vulnerable states. Today, we celebrate peacekeepers’ high level of professionalism, dedication, and courage”, said Josef Salani, chief of Finance at the RSCE, at the UN Peacekeepers Day celebration.
Participants visited the “Peacekeeping Over the Years” exhibition at the Regional Training and Conference Centre yesterday and paid tribute to those who lost their lives under the #UNflag.
🕊️🌍 International Day of UN Peacekeepers 🌍🕊️
On May 29, we pay tribute to the remarkable efforts of over 2 million uniformed and civilian personnel who have served in UN peacekeeping operations since 1948. We also remember with deepest respect more than 4,200 colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace.
Let us reaffirm our commitment to working together for lasting peace and harmony. 🤝🌟
Day 6
Day 7
Peacekeepers’ efforts extend far beyond preventing and addressing conflicts.
They are also responsible for advancing political solutions, supporting democratic elections, promoting human rights, and ensuring that women and youth participate in peace processes 🗳️.
Day 8
While peacekeepers work side by side with local communities to advance political solutions and prevent conflicts, there are unsung heroes in the background ensuring their success. That’s where the RSCE plays a vital role.
RSCE supports #UNmissions in the areas of administration, logistics, and ICT, empowering peacekeepers to carry out their noble mission.
“To people living under the shadow of conflict, our teams of Blue Helmets represent hope. As peacekeepers support humanity, let us always support and recognize them”, said the UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
